Position Title: Behavioral Treatment Counselor
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Position Reports to: BTS Program Coordinator

General Statement of Responsibilities: Behavioral Treatment Counselors provide direct service to families with individuals who have displayed significant behavioral, communication, and adaptive functioning problems. BTS Counselors will be expected to provide goal-oriented interventions designed to intervene specifically for each individual and their family. Counselors will provide treatment oriented activities as indicated in the Individualized Service Plan in the client’s home, school, and community settings. Furthermore, they will be expected to coordinate services across multiple settings and communicate with other members involved in the treatment of each individual. Clinical documentation, to include assessment, individualized service planning, positive behavioral treatment service plans, behavioral modification planning, daily progress notes, monthly progress reporting, termination summary, and any other requested documentation, must be completed as part of this position.

Position Duties:
1. A Behavioral Treatment Counselor will be required, at times, to work a flexible schedule, and be available on a 24-hour basis, when requested. A Behavioral Treatment Counselor will be required to use their own vehicle for transportation of clients, and must be able to provide their own transportation to and from their assigned place of work. A Behavioral Treatment Counselor may be required to work at a school-based location providing individual services. A Behavioral Treatment Counselor will be required to work, at time, at other assigned locations when school is not in session.
2. In certain instances, the Behavioral Treatment Counselor will be required to be available for weekend activities, special transportation assistance and/or support, and field trips, all of which may require additional after-school and/or before school hours.
3. Timely arrival and departure according to assigned schedule.
4. Implementation of a behavioral management plan as applicable.
5. Creation and utilization of an Individualized Service Plan (ISP).
6. Meeting the psychological need for all case assignments. This can include but is not limited to the following types of interventions: Behavioral Interventions, Social Skills training, Communication and language training, Anger management training, Frustration management, Case Management coordination/activities
7. Assists clients in completion and/or organization of all tasks associated with academic success.
8. Effective communication with parents/guardians/referring workers/supervisors/coworkers and school administration as warranted.
9. Demonstrate professionalism throughout service delivery and at all times in the workplace.
10. Complete required documentation in accordance with services rendered.

Counselors are expected to provide services that are culturally competent, age-appropriate, and address the unique needs of each client. They will assist and empower the client and family to access and utilize needed services and supports.

Required Qualifications: BTS Counselors must be a Qualified Mental Health Professional, possessing a bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of experience providing direct service to persons with mental illness or similar disabilities, OR an Associate’s Degree in any field and three years experience as referenced above. Licensed Practical Nurses with one year of direct service experience in the mental health field may also qualify. College credits earned towards a bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field equivalent to an Associate’s Degree are also acceptable so long as the requirements for one year of clinical experience is also met.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Experience and knowledge related to behavioral management techniques.
• Candidate needs to have skills gained through experience working with youth either on-on-one, or in a group setting. Candidate needs to have the knowledge, skills and abilities to enhance a client’s social development.
• Counselors must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Possess a safe driving record.
• Certified in CPR and First Aid
• Counselors may be required to use their own vehicles for transportation of clients.

Design, erect, modify and dismantle temporary work platforms for the following types of scaffolds: 1) tube and coupler, 2) tubular welded frame, 3) system, and 4) suspension.
Must be able to read and write, follow written and verbal instructions, and have strong communication skills. Must be capable of attending scaffold-training classes and learn various methods for scaffold assembly including their safe job application and OSHA regulations regarding scaffold types.
Work requires whole body flexibility, coordination, balance and agility. Standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing are essential functions performed during the work shift.
Work requires a significant amount of reaching upward, downward and side to side requiring repetitive upper extremity movement using elbow, wrist, neck and back mobility.
May have respiratory and skin exposure to a variety of chemicals that are used or manufactured throughout the jobsite. May have exposure to fiberglass and/or mineral fiber insulation, paint, dirt, fly ash and coal dust. Exposure to rough edges, splinters from scaffold planks, toe boards, plyform, mud seals, and objects from overhead as well as airborne particles.
1. Must be able to perform job while grasping and handling scaffold components weighing up to 80 pounds. These can include posts, frames, planks, platforms, couplers, hand tools, and various other scaffold accessories.
2. Erect scaffolds according to sketches, oral and/or written instructions.
3. Load and unload scaffold materials from trucks being moved to and from the job site.
4. Use ratchet and sockets, combination wrench, hammer, saw, wire cutters, torpedo level, tape measure, and power tools such as skill saw, grinder and porta-band saw.
5. Assemble scaffold from ground to heights exceeding 125 feet utilizing bolting, clamping and tying methods.
6. Dismantle scaffolds and move material to other job sites.
7. Maintain data for job requirements such as pre-job assessment form, logging specific scaffold components on job tickets.
8. Count and band rental scaffold and prepare for shipment.
9. Must be able to comply with all safety regulations and procedures applicable to a chemical plant environment.
10. Regular reliable attendance and flexibility to work varied shifts.
